VSF General Meeting September 2007 - a resounding success!

VSF held a General Meeting on 26th September. The theme of the conference was "Education and Community Development". Over 25 people including academics, professionals, charities, industries and representatives of other institutions/individuals were in attendance.

Dr. John Horton, chairman, welcomed the attendees and briefly introduced Dr. Stephen Vickers. The presentation was received extremely well and based on the demand of participants, the power point slides used can be found here.

Following the stimulating presentation and discussions on the subject, and while refreshments were being served, participants could get to know each other and discuss the ways their institutions could work together and benefit from collaboration. A number of initiatives have been identified and are being persuaded by the participants. That was certainly one VSF most successful events

Our special thanks to the speaker and The Open University for hosting the event and their warm hospitality.

VSF General Meeting, May 2006

This was the latest in our regular series of VSF general meetings, which give Forum members the chance to hear from a speaker with interesting and relevant experience to the activities of the Forum.

Graham Wilson was the guest speaker in the meeting, with the subject "Volunteering by 'professionals' - a delicate balance of human needs".

Graham is a leadership coach, psychotherapist and inter-faith minister with extensive experience of working in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. His focus: creating workplaces that enable people to achieve things they never dreamt they could. Graham has authored seven management books focusing on organisational development, and brought a very interesting perspective to the Forum.

VSF fundraising event

Kissmann Langford hosted a Sunday charity open house on 17 September. In a relaxed, fun event of art, glass, jewellery, fab foods and an exciting auction, a substantial sum was raised to support VSF's ongoing activities.

Thank you to all who came and helped make this event a stunning success!
